Welcome Miami’s New HC Mike McDaniel

Miami Dolphins Coaching Search: Is McDaniel a Foregone Conclusion? - Sports Illustrated Miami Dolphins News, Analysis and More

After a month-long search and extreme patience (for us all) Miami have finally hired their 11th head coach in team history (Not Counting Interim HC’s) as San Francisco 49ers OC Mike McDaniel and the Dolphins have agreed to a 4-year deal with terms yet to be disclosed. Mike McDaniel is the first coach hired this year that is a minority as he is bi-racial and thus maintains Stephen Ross’ exceptional record in hiring minorities.

This is a pivot back to an offensive minded HC after Brian Flores (a defensive HC) was fired last month. Miami’s offense needs help and competent coaching, something Brian Flores failed to deliver in his 3 seasons in Miami, but he did build an incredibly talented defensive unit with a great deal of young talent.

With just half of the team needing to be fixed and with some good talent on the offensive side of the ball I expect NO LETDOWN but this team to get better next year especially if they can fix the issues offensively.

Despite the criticism of the Offensive Line, I blame coaching as the reason that unit failed and with some young 1st and 2nd year players adding a quality Offensive line coach and plugging in a veteran or two who knows how this unit might play.

The Dolphins rebuild has brought some young talented players that still have room to grow and with the right coaching in place who can say that Miami will not be a playoff contender next season?

The next thing we need to look for is if the new coach can assemble a quality staff and if he will retain some of the coaches still under contract from Brian Flores’ tenure.

Time will tell, but we have completed the first hurdle and have our new HC!

Welcome to Miami Mike McDaniel!!!!

Fins Up!!!!
