There’s a saying “To Bad Youth Is Wasted On The Young”
There is no more appropriate application for that saying then for former first round pick Isaiah Wilson who foolishly threw away millions (potentially hundreds of millions of dollars) for his rookie signing bonus of $5,973,376.
If you recall Isaiah Wilson signed a 4-year, $11,568,389 contract with the Tennessee Titans, including a $5,973,376 signing bonus, $11,357,982 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2,892,097. In 2021, Wilson will earn a base salary of $1,135,836, while carrying a cap hit of $1,135,836.
The Titans realized they had a problem as Isaiah Wilson was content with the money, he had received in his signing bonus and basically thumb his nose at doing the job he was hired to do and now has embarked on a new Career….
NFL Draft Bust Isaiah Wilson Releases Rap Song and It is Absolutely Terrible
He is now a rapper and I’m pretty sure he’s blowing up the money that he has earned on these wild ideas I’m probably getting rich as a rapper but he will soon learn that his so-called friends will run out as soon as his money runs out and he’ll be left with nothing but extreme regrets then he threw away $5 million or more of his remaining contract as well as the potential of signing a huge deal in the future had he continued to work through at least the second contract.
The sad part of the story is that there is no one in his life that seem to have try to give him the proper direction in guidance and counseling that he needs in this stage of his life because his friends will only encourage his foolish behavior.
Fortunately for Miami we have a management team that will not take any mess with anybody, they did not give up anything to sign him, all they did was swapped seventh round picks with the Titans. It was worth the risk as Miami wanted to give him an opportunity to change. It literally took just days to realize it was not going to work in Miami and they cut ties and moved on.
I’m pretty sure the day will come when this kid tries to get back into the NFL, but I don’t think no teams ever going to give him a chance Unless it’s a one-year deal at the very minimum that he can sign.
That might be the only way I can see this kid changing is when he fell on his face and come to the realization that his golden ticket was always his NFL career.
