We are now 3/4 of the way through the season and Miami over their last 4 games went 3-1 but should have been 4-0 as they lost to a Denver team that they should have beaten. The transition to Rookie QB Tua Tagovailola have had mixed reviews as he was benched in the loss to the Broncos as his play was very bad and he has only had two good games in his 6 starts so far. The Dolphins have won through a total team effort so far as our Rookie gets acclimated to playing in the NFL, Miami’s Defense and Special teams have played a major role in winninmg games and Miami now at 8-4 are holding the 6th spot in the AFC plyoff race and December is now a month that mattters!
For a team that is just in year two of their rebuild we can say they have had great success and a major reason is the players they brought in through free agency and the players they drafted. Miami in their last game started 5 rookies!
Kyle Van Noy, Emmanuel Ogbah, Byron Jones, Shaq Lawson, Ereck Flowers and Ted Karras, have all played well for Miami this year and rookies Austin Jackson, Robert Hunt, and Solomon Kindley have all played very well on the offensive line and Tua Tagovailoa is getting invaluable playing experience and even though his play is not where we would like it to be so far he has done th eone thing that really matters in helping the team win. He has thrown the ball 136 times for 898 yards and 7 TD’s and 0 INT’s!
On the defensive side of the ball rookies Raekwon Davis, Brandon Jones, and Noah Igbinoghene have all contributed in many ways this season. WR Malcolm Perry has also pitched in and contributed as well and rookie fifth-round pick Jason Strowbridge was used when DT Christian Wilkins was out due to covid. That’s 9 of the 11 rookies drafted (One was lost on waivers) this year that have contributed in some way!
The Dolphins have earned the right to be in the playoff hunt with team play and good player development and all three units Offense, Defense & Special teams playing complementary football and all the credit to the coaching staff!
After 3/4 of the season and with an 8-4 season and one game out of a first place tie in the division, the Dolphins are truly the suprise team in the league and gets a grade of a B.
4 games remain but they are some really tough games and will tell us alot about our young upstart team.
