Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets Review

NFL Week 12 PFF ReFocused: Miami Dolphins 20, New York Jets 3 | NFL News, Rankings and Statistics | PFF
Sweep!

If you read my preview you already know I was somewhat concerned about this game but after about 5 minutes into the game I knew that Miami was headed for a win and a sweep of the hapless J-E-T-S…JETS!JETS!JETS!

It was not even close and had our offense done a better job of executing the score could have been lopsided as if playing the Jets twice this year and sweeping them with a combined score of 44-3 is not enough!

Miami is on a roll and even though I will never get to confident in this team, only because they are still very early in their rebuild not even 2 complete years, I will say they are finally looking like how I envisioned they should look and much credit and thanks to the Dolphins management from the Owner Stephen Ross and GM Chris Grier and legitimate Coach of the year candidate Brian Flores.

They still have to get better with both running the ball and stopping the run but that will have to be addressed in the offseason as they add some more depth/talent through free agency and the draft.

I knew that Brian Flores’ main focus would be to get our Defense playing at a high level and more than half way through the season all I can say is JOB WELL DONE Brian Flores!!!!

Miami’s Defense is special and the rest of the team Special Teams and Offense have been complementary in their efforts and thus we find our Dolphins in the playoff race!

On to the Game:

The game started off with Sam Darnold easily moving his offense down within scoring rage with a few good passes and a hard running Frank Gore got the Jets to the Dolphins 11 yards line but Miami’s defense stalled the Jets and on 3rd and 3 Miami blitzed Darnold and got the sack forcing the Jets to kick the field goal giving them a 3-0 lead.

Ryan Fitzpatrick obviously a little rusty not having played in a few weeks drove Miami’s offense down the field and our Dolphins tied the game 3-3 near the end pf the first quarter.

The Jets next possession was once again stalled but this time they were forced to punt the ball.

Ryan Fitzpatrick on the pursuing drive takes the Dolphins down the field over 80 yards and he reconnects with his favorite WR DeVante Parker and Parker who had a great game 8 receptions for 119 yards with a 14.9 YPC average got the Dolphins into scoring position and Ryan Fitzpatrick makes good on this opportunity as he hits his 2nd favorite receiving target for the TD as Mike Gesicki catches a TD in the corner of the end-zone to put Miami up 10-3.

The Jest follow up with a 3 and out and Miami once again drive the ball down the field and settles again for a field goal and goes up 13-3.

The Jets after a 13 play 82 yard drive stalls they attempt a 29 yard field goal and they miss!

The Dolphins get the ball at the start of the 3rd quarter but after a quick 3 and out Miami was forced to punt.

Sam Darnold starts the next drive and after a few plays he is pressured by the Defensive line (Christian Wilkins) he throws an ill-advised pass that Nik Needham picks off for his first INT of the season.

Both teams go back and forth as Miami did not capitalize on the INT but went 5 and out and the rest of the 3rd quarter was poor offensive play on both sides Ryan Fitzpatrick and Matt Breda and Patrick Laird fumbled the ball during the game.

One of the biggest plays of the game was when Frank Gore was stuffed on 4th and 1 around bout the Dolphins 20 yard line by Elandon Roberts who popped Gore!

After a couple of stalled drives by both teams Ryan Fitzpatrick orchestrates an 80 yard drive that ends up with another TD to TE Adam Shaheen and Miami goes up 20-3.

Oh, one last nugget! Xavien Howard gets another INT making him the league leader with 7 INT’s for the season!

It was not a pretty offensive outing but effective

R. Fitzpatrick stats were 24-39, 257 YDS, 2 TD’s but they left a lot of points on the field but you have to give the Jest defense some credit they played well, just not as good as Miami’s defense!

Miami is not 7-4 and in the hunt for the playoffs!
