Miami in 2019 was 32 in the league in rushing dead last! Miami also gave up on average 135 yards per game 26th in the league they ended the season (5-11)
In 2018 the Dolphins were 18th in rushing and they also gave up 145 yards per game (31st) to their opponents they ended the season (7-9),
In 2017 Miami was 29th in rushing and gave up on average 110 yards per game (19th) they ended the season (6-10),
In 2016 Miami was 9th in rushing but they gave up 140 yards per game to their opponents, they ended the season (10-6)
In 2015 the Dolphins were 23rd in rushing (6-10) they gave up 126 yards per game to their opponents (28th),
In 2014 Miami was 12th in rushing but gave up 121 yards per game to their opponents, they finished the season (8-8)
Do you notice the pattern? Only one time did Miami have a winning record and that was in 2016 when the Dolphins were in the top 10 in rushing and still they were terrible against the run giving up a ridicules 140 yards per game!
You can go back to the Marino era and as prolific a passer he was the Dolphins were also a victim of a porous defense and so they often failed to win games as they were outscored in many games.
Until our Dolphins can run the ball effectively and stop the run they will never be a serious contender. So I will be looking as the season moves along at two things can this 2020 Miami Dolphins run the ball, meaning that Ryan Fitzpatrick should not be our leading rusher and can they stop the run and not be dead last in that category at seasons end.
