Former Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill hits pay dirt again as he signs a four year contract worth $118M ($91 million guaranteed) with the Tennessee Titans with an average of $29.5 million per year and as happy as I am for Tannehill I do question the Titans in making this deal.
When you look at the History of Ryan Tannehill he is who he is. He is a slightly above average QB that does not have the ability to win a game on his own and that was the very reason why he was so successful last year because the Titans had the best running back in the game Derrick Henry running roughshod over the league.
If you look at the big picture I find it hard to justify paying Ryan that kind of money but at the same time I can understand their dilemma in wanting to keep everything together. Ryan Tannehill landed in the perfect place and earned his deal I just don’t see him as their answer to get them to a SB win. None the less they are stuck with that deal and it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
As a Dolphins fan I am glad fro Ryan and happy that Miami did move on from Tannehill because it did not work for either side in Miami but I will follow Ryan because I did like him and only grew frustrated during his last year or two as the Dolphins OVERPAID NON-FRANCHISE QB.
- Ryan Tannehill made $72,550,979 off his Dolphins Contract (2012-2019)
- Ryan Tannehill made $5,425,000 last season with the Titans (2019)
- Ryan Tannehill just signed a 4 year, $118,000,000 contract with the Tennessee Titans, including a $20,000,000 signing bonus, $91,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $29,500,000.
118,000,000+72,550,979+5,425,000=
Total Career Earnings $195,975,979.000
To put things into perspective Ryan Tannehill will have earned more than twice as much as Tom Brady has in the same time period.
It’s all about timing folks!
