When you look at the divisional round of the playoffs one thing you cannot deny every team remaining has a very good quarterback some of the best in the league.
In fact an argument could be made that the top four quarterbacks remaining are the top four quarterbacks in the NFL
- Aaron Rodgers
- Russell Wilson
- Patrick Mahomes
- Lamar Jackson
In addition both Kirk Cousins and Ryan Tannehill have played admirably also even though it’s more of a team effort.
The importance of a quarterback is highlighted with these remaining teams and eventually whichever quarterback plays the best down the stretch that quarterback will get their team a Super Bowl win.
It’s going on 20 years since the Miami Dolphins have had a franchise quarterback and no Ryan Tannehill is not a franchise quarterback but he is a good, solid quarterback when surrounded with talent will play well.
As you enjoyed this weekend’s games keep in mind the importance of the quarterback play and how these teams have advanced to the division round due to the play of their quarterbacks.
This offseason for the Miami Dolphins is critical in their efforts to acquire a franchise quarterback They have many options free agency, trades and the draft. The Dolphins are in search of a franchise quarterback while at the same time they’re caught in a must-win situation for next year as expectations have been raised and anything less than a .500 season or better will not be looked upon well.
I think they squandered a year already with Ryan Fitzpatrick at the helm at quarterback for the Dolphins, they need to identify a young quarterback of the future and hopefully in 2020 there will be a battle of young quarterbacks vying for the starting job in Miami. If The Dolphins find themselves with Ryan Fitzpatrick once again starting in 2020 it’s not a good sign for the future.
