New England Patriots come to Miami week 2 of the 2019 NFL regular season as one of the top ranked teams if not the top ranked team in the league.
The Miami Dolphins on the other hand in rebuild mode is ranked as the worst team In the NFL and after last Sunday’s debacle against the Baltimore Ravens you won’t get an argument from this homer who did not believe this team was as bad as people kept saying they were.
There’s no easy road for this team right now and no one’s going to feel sorry for them not even most of the fans.
Hopefully the Dolphins will have a better showing this Sunday against the New England Patriots but in all reality it don’t look good. Did you notice the point spread? Talk about no respect!
In order to get respect you have to earn it and the Dolphins after game 1 deserve no respect at all and all we can hope for is that somehow that massacre is a motivating factor to get some of these players to step up to the plate and do a better job.
On to the matchups
The matchup: on Offense
On paper this match up looks like it’s not going to be close. The New England Patriots have all the weapons, they’re like a fine oiled machine that’s working on all cylinders.
While Miami last week stumbled out of the block looking no better than a college team as they got blasted by the Baltimore Ravens in their home opener 59 – 10. Ouch!
New England enter the game with the 7th ranked offense while the Dolphins enter the game with the 32nd ranked offense.
The matchup: on Defense
New England enters a game with the 9th ranked defense while the Dolphins enter the game with the 32nd ranked defense.
The Strategy:
For The Dolphins:
The Dolphins coming off the most embarrassing loss and recent history against the Ravens who has basically bullied the Dolphins over the past 2 to 3 years must face the number one team in the NFL and Superbowl Champions New England Patriots.
Miami needs established their run game and keep Tom Brady off the field as much as possible, run run run should be the montra on offense and on defense just the opposite creating turnovers, stopping the run and avoid giving up the big play is what they need to do to be in the game.
The Dolphins were thoroughly outcoached last week by the Ravens. Baltimore knew that they would probably focus heavily on stopping their run game and have no idea that their plan was to pass away to a victory in Miami which they did successfully.
Hopefully Miami has a better game plan that can keep this game close and avoid allowing another game to get out of hand.
For The Patriots:
Look for New England to have a balance attack of run and pass with great success today as the Dolphins are still trying to figure themselves out in the process of trying to rebuild this team with a coaching staff that has not been together long.
My Take:
As you can see on paper this is a missmatch of colossal proportions and maybe we need to brace ourselves for another potential blowout.
Both teams have their drama coming into this game for the Patriots WR Antonio Brown has been charged with rape and for the Dolphins their first round pick last year Minkah Fitzpatrick wants to be traded.
For Miami who’s rebuilding what we’re looking for in the games are players who we can identify to be part of the future of this team Miami has the youngest team in the league that lacks both experience and talent to be at the level of the other 31 teams, so it’s going to be a challenge for the Dolphins to win many games this year.
The Patriots on the other hand just might run the table this year, they’re that good. There are teams that can present a challenge for them in the AFC but if they play at the top of their game it might be hard for any team to beat New England on their way to potentially a 7th super bowl championship?
Again I’m working today so I have to follow along online to see if our Dolphins can rebound from the ugly opening day and at least make a game of it.
New England 37, Miami 14
Enjoy the game.
