If you read the national media the big boys like ESPN & CBS you will see that the Miami Dolphins are projected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this upcoming 2019 season, if you listen to the local media their narrative is that the Dolphins are in tank mode to try to get one of the top quarterbacks in the draft next year and even some bloggers are hoping that somehow the Dolphins will end up being one of the worst teams in NFL.
I do not share that narrative and neither does the Dolphin management and hopefully for the team as well as the players that’s fuel for their fire to help them to achieve the goals that they have set for this year a goal that should be no different than any other team in the NFL, to make it to the Superbowl. Realistically we all know that his team is not a Super Bowl contending team yet, but that does not mean that their attitude, work ethic and goal should not be to make it to the Superbowl.
While everybody is selling our Dolphins short I feel this team will overachieve all the low expectations the rest of the world is already projecting. They have in place this season good coaching and they appear to be establishing an identity as a tough, disciplined team. What they have as a unit can be a double edge sword. They are young and hungry and will not be limited by others low expectations. There will be some growing pains as this team is missing some important pieces that they will eventually fill in time but for season one of the rebuild we have a good foundation in place to only add more young talent in future drafts.
This team is in position to win as many games as they can, so the question is how realistic should projections of this team be? 2, 3,4 or 5 wins? The Dolphins were stuck in mediocrity these past 7 seasons under Ryan Tannehill and even though I feel it is unfair to put that all on Ryan, the fact is he did not make the difference.
With the over under on Miami being 5 wins how good would an 8 win or better season be?
Many of you know me by now, I am the ultimate Homer and I’m saying that’s exactly what I expect this team to be .500 or better this upcoming season. I expect them to spend the first quarter of the 2019 season finding themselves and hopefully once they get an idea who they are and who they can be that they will gradually improve throughout the season, and come seasons end were looking at 8, 9 maybe 10 wins.
I’m not feeling a team that is headed towards the bottom of the league,in fact they’ve been projecting for the last 5 years that our Dolphins were a 2-5 win team and the Dolphins have at least exceeded all those expectations, I do feel the Dolphins have enough talent to be a legitimate playoff contender so I would not be totally shocked if they end up winning 10 games and make it to the playoffs this year!
So I am not counting this Dolphins team out just yet!
Phins Up!
