A Big Purge On The Way II

Ok first things first! Put on your (P.P.E) because construction is in progress as we dismantle the OLD Dolphins and usher in a younger, stronger, healthier Dolphins team. So Let’s Get To It!

First lets separate the team of the past to the future, the Dolphins have approximately 80 players on their roster 13 of whom are 30 years of age or older. 30 is the age of demarcation where GM/(TDS) will establish as the past and despite the Dolphins signing the oldest player on the roster John Denney to a one year extension we will be looking to purge our roster of older players with class and dignity as the future is now.

That brings me to my hardest decision in this process as my favorite player and surely fan favorite Cameron Wake (Free Agent) who has played for Miami his entire career is past that line of demarcation as he is the second oldest player on the roster at 37 years young for life but aged for the NFL. As with every rule there are exceptions to those rules and in this case I will handle with class and care and this is what I will do as your fake GM with Cameron Wake.

I would make a legitimate offer to allow Cameron to decide his fate because he has earned this right as he will go down as one of the best pass rushers in Dolphins history and despite in full rebuild mode I want Cameron Wake to never play for another NFL team and retire as a Dolphin. At the same time I would love for Cameron Wake to get a shot at a ring and if some needy contending team should attract Cameron Wake (Saints maybe with Suh?) and he should decide to go for it I would be his biggest fan!

Either way I want what ever is best for a truly classy guy and one of my all time favorite Dolphins player. It just make you want to apologize to him for the squandered years of never truly having a legitimate chance at a SB ring in Miami just like Marino. Only time will tell as to the outcome for Wake but whatever it is I wish him only the best.

Now for the easy decisions!

Reshad Jones (30) is another player that fits into the Cameron Wake mode where he has earned the right to decide his fate if he wants to go after a ring I would try to make a deal to move him if not he is welcomed back with open arms!

If 30 is our line of demarcation I will also look at players past 25 years of age as getting close to getting old (sounds strange for such young people in life) and unless they have redeeming value I say lets move on from them so players like:

Brice Butler, Brandon Bolden, Andre Branch, Wesley Johnson, Travis Swanson, Brock Osweiler, Kiko Alonso, David Fales, Akeem Spence, Senorise Perry, Walt Aikens, Jesse Davis, Mike Hull, Nick O’Leary, Zach Sterup, DeVante Parker, A.J. Derby, MarQueis Gray,

Those players are ones that I would consider replacing with younger talent as some are just hanging around and I see no truly redeeming value and others have not lived up to expectations.

I have left out a few players as I have not decided what to do with just yet…

Robert Quinn, T.J. McDonaldKenny Stills, Stephone Anthony, Isaac Asiata, Leonte Carroo

This leaves me with players to build around what I call the foundation players they will become the YOUNG VETERANS that must step up take the lead and help with the transition of the rush of young players we will be adding in the rebuild.

Minkah Fitzpatrick, Jerome Baker, Durham Smythe, Mike GesickiKalen Ballage, Raekwon McMillan, Isaiah Ford, Charles Harris, Laremy Tunsil, Davon Godchaux, Jonathan Woodard, Xavien Howard, Kenyan Drake, Bobby McCain, Ja’Wuan James, Jakeem Grant, Cordrea Tankersley, Vincent Taylor, Albert Wilson,

In conclusion there should be plenty of roster spots available for future undrafted free agents as the Dolphins should be on a youth movement starting with any free agent players who are 25 years or younger and culminating in the draft where they should try to acquire as many picks that they can by trading players for picks and trading down in the draft to obtain more picks as you can build a sold roster with some mid round players that can fulfill a role on this new team we will be putting together.

I have laid the blue print for Chris Grier so if any of my readers know him pass it on because I do not have much time to waste and am hoping to see my beloved Dolphins back on top of the division and the league ASAP!
