Pro Day 2014

Rantavious Wooten at Georgia’s Pro Day

One thing is for sure, The Dolphins like U. of Georgia players as Wooten has joined 5 other Bulldogs including Knowshon Moreno on the roster. The 5’10’ 178lb Belle Glade native was signed as undrafted free agent and joins the legion of WRs trying to impress coaches and make the team. Let’s take a look at his Georgia career and see what his prospects may be for making the roster.

Wooten was not invited to the combine, but was impressive enough at Georgia’s Pro Day to gain our attention. He ran a 4.53 40 and recorded a 36.5 vertical jump, but during the draft he was rated 71st out of 325 WRs. If nothing else Wooten proved he is an athlete at The Pro Day.

Wooten was at Georgia for 5 years as he was red-shirted in 2011 sustaining a concussion early in the season. Below are some of Wooten’s career highlights.

Career Highs: 6 receptions at Tennessee in 2013
*104 receiving yards vs. App. State in 2013
*Long reception of 48 yards vs. No. 25 Missouri in 2009
*2 receiving TDs (2x), last at Tennessee in 2013
*Long TD reception of 43 yards vs. Kentucky in 2009
*3 rushing attempts vs. Idaho State in 2010
*13 rushing yards vs. Idaho State in 2010
*Long rush of 24 yards vs. Florida Atlantic in 2012
*1 passing attempt (2x), last vs. North Texas in 2013
*1 completion vs. North Texas in 2013
*42 passing yards vs. North Texas in 2013
*Long completion of 42 yards vs. North Texas in 2013

In 2013 Wooten appeared in 13 games for The Bulldogs making 6 six starts and against Auburn he had 5 catches for 99 yds. and 1 TD. He had a career high 104 yds. receiving and a 35 yd. TD vs. App. State. Wooten led the team with a career high 6 receptions and 2 TDs vs. 25 ranked Missouri. With 5 seconds remaining against Tennessee he had the game tying TD and also had 6 catches including another catch for a TD earlier in the game. Wooten was also the recipient of the Aubrey Cecil Rhodes, Sr. Football Scholarship.

I have done a player spotlight on all of our draft picks and just about all of our UFAs and Wooten is certainly an underdog. With the plethora of WRs on the roster at this time he would have to do miraculous things to have a shot of making the team. Let’s wish him well. saysMikey
